Internal Complaint Committee
The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Jamia Nadwiyya Arts and Science College, Edavanna has been constituted in accordance with the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015 and the provisions of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act).
The Committee is committed to providing a safe, secure, inclusive, and gender-sensitive environment for all students, teaching and non-teaching staff. It strives to prevent sexual harassment through awareness programmes, orientation sessions, counselling, and sensitization activities while ensuring prompt, fair, and confidential redressal of complaints.
The ICC functions on the principles of confidentiality, impartiality, natural justice, and respect for human dignity, ensuring that every complaint is addressed with sensitivity and in accordance with statutory provisions.
Functions of the Committee

Promote a safe and gender-sensitive campus environment.

Conduct awareness programmes, workshops, and orientation sessions on gender equality and prevention of sexual harassment.

Receive and address complaints of sexual harassment.

Ensure confidentiality throughout the complaint and enquiry process.

Recommend appropriate disciplinary or corrective measures to the College Management based on the findings of the enquiry.
Complaint Procedure

Any aggrieved woman employee or student may submit a complaint to any member of the ICC, either in writing or through email.

Complaints should ordinarily be filed within three months from the date of the incident. The Committee may extend this period by a further three months if sufficient reasons for the delay are established, as provided under the POSH Act.

If an oral complaint is made, the Committee shall assist the complainant in reducing it to writing.

The ICC shall conduct a fair, impartial, and confidential enquiry by providing equal opportunity to both the complainant and the respondent to present their case.

During the enquiry, the Committee may recommend interim relief measures wherever necessary.

The enquiry shall normally be completed within 90 days, and the recommendations shall be submitted to the Management for appropriate action in accordance with the UGC Regulations and the POSH Act.

The identity of the complainant, respondent, witnesses, and all proceedings shall be kept strictly confidential.
